The Last Caretaker of the Old Man in the Mountain
The Old Man of the Mountain was discovered in 1805. In 1945 the image of the Old Man became the Emblem of the State of New Hampshire. In 1960 the State of New Hampshire began care and maintenance of The Old man. Niels F.F. Nielsen Jr. began the annual inspections of the Old Man. In 1969 David C. Nielsen joined his father and started the legacy of caretaking. This is the historic story of the Old Man of the Mountain and his caretakers.

The Friends of the Whitney Community Center (FWCC) are responsible for Whitney Community Center programming. Four times a year the FWCC produces a catalog of programming open to Jackson and surrounding communities residents and guests.
Location
The Whitney Community Center is located in the center of Jackson and supports Jackson Grammar School activities, community education programming, rentals and other community events and is a great community resource.
