2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence. Join us for a look back at how government formed in both New Hampshire and the United States, exploring key moments in civic development. The program also includes a brief history of voting rights in America, along with practical information on voter registration in New Hampshire and an overview of polling place procedures, highlighting the checks and balances within the state’s election system.
This FREE program is presented by Lily Woo, a former educator of 30 years and presently is the Civic & Voter Education Coordinator for the NH Secretary of State, and is hosted by the Friends of the Whitney Community Center and Jackson Public Library as part of the Celebrate Democracy – 250 Years and Beyond series.

The Friends of the Whitney Community Center (FWCC) are responsible for Whitney Community Center programming. Four times a year the FWCC produces a catalog of programming open to Jackson and surrounding communities residents and guests.
Location
The Whitney Community Center is located in the center of Jackson and supports Jackson Grammar School activities, community education programming, rentals and other community events and is a great community resource.
