Bird migration is a hot topic in Jackson in the spring. On Sunday March 15, the Whitney Community Center is showing Nature’s Highway: Flyway of Life, a stunning documentary about birds migrating along the Atlantic Flyway. To follow up, Kathy Seymour and Jane Sender will present Migration Mishaps, an entertaining program about what happens when birds get migration “wrong”, and end up in unexpected places. Birders delight in finding birds out of range, and also veer way off course to get a glimpse of a new bird. You’ll enjoy great photos and stories from some of the “mega-rarities” which have shown up in New England, while learning a bit about the science of bird navigation and the reasons birds end up far off course.
